Company SBB / Coup D'espace Open Rehearsals

The ArtYard community is invited into artist-in-residence Company SBB/ Stefanie Batten Bland’s creative process as she incubates Coup D’espace.

Open rehearsals are from 10 AM to 5 PM Tuesday, June 27 to Saturday, July 1 at ArtYard’s Creekside Residency.

Coup D’espace is an immersive work that empowers us as a collective people to examine what moves us to overthrow/transform a space. In this work, nine immersive spaces cultivate group and individualized creative exploration that forecasts opportunities of new futures.

Spectators are invited to confront individual identity biases and value systems as either witness or participant in real-time performative tipping points in each space they enter. Coup is in conversation with current social political movements in our time and yet are also timeless.

The open rehearsal is a chance to witness the workings of creating a performance. During the open rehearsal, artists may come and go, start and stop, and may be on break for lunch. We encourage aspiring artists, dancers, students, and anyone curious about the inner-workings of putting on a dance performance to attend.

Parking is at ArtYard Workshop, 62A Trenton Ave., or ArtYard Center, 13 Front St. ArtYard's Creekside Residency is a short walk from these locations on the towpath.
